Adorable planter overflowing with Euphorbia ‘Diamond Frost’ sitting on a discarded chair. Reuse and repurpose is my motto! ‘Diamond Frost’ is a gorgeous trailing perennial that blooms constantly year round. It’s hardy too: I didn’t cover it at all during our cold days this winter. I’ll have it for sale as soon as my suppliers have it ready.
I make custom container gardens using either your pots or pots I supply. I use the common ceramic, plastic, terra cotta, etc, and whimsical and unique pots I’ve found at flea markets and antique shops.

The tropical milkweed in my garden are blooming! Have you ever looked up close at a milkweed flower? They’re rather pretty.
I’ve noticed an increase in butterfly activity in the garden since the milkweed blooms began. There aren’t too many things to me more relaxing than watching the butterflies flit from flower to flower.
R&G has tropical milkweed for sale in the Neighborhood Garden Boutique for only $4/1-gallon size. For more information on tropical milkweed and to order, go here: “Tropical Milkweed”. They aren’t listed yet, but I can also get many varieties of our native milkweed. Just let me know what you’re looking for!
The butterflies and hummingbirds will be back in our area in droves soon. Is your garden up to the task of having enough nectar plants and host plants for them?
These gorgeous flowers are part of a client’s order for her new butterfly and hummingbird attracting garden. I’m telling ya, not long after I set these in the holding area in my backyard the butterflies started coming around. This is only a small part of the plants she’s getting next week. Will share pics of of all of them then. Click on each pic to see the name of the plant.
I’m in the process of adding these to R&G’s Neighborhood Garden Boutique. In the meantime, here are the prices: Red Shrimp Plant, Tropical Milkweed, ‘Saucy Wine’ Salvia, and ‘Wendy’s Wish’ Salvia are $4.00/1-gallon size. The Red Porterweed and Blue Porterweed are $4.50/1-gallon size. The ‘Chater’s Double Mix’ Hollyhocks are $1.50/4″ container.

Pretty little basket of honey-smelling Sweet Alyssum blooming happily all through our cold snaps. No covering needed for this cool season annual! Did you know that Sweet Alyssum, aka Lobularia maritima, is also an excellent nectar plant? Yep, it is. All kinds of beneficial bugs luv visiting this plant: bees, butterflies, wasps, etc. All of that means it’s the perfect little plant for your cool season garden.
I’ll be making more container gardens and hanging baskets soon. Look for them in R&G’s Neighbourhood Garden Boutique!
Good afternoon, my fellow flower freaks! Are y’all as happy as I am that the cooler temps are gone for the next few days? I am so not a cold weather person.
Today is a work at home day, so the pups and I are hanging out in the backyard enjoying the sunshine. Gibbs and Ziva are chasing lizards, and I’m working on a garden design for Jessica, putting together a list of hummingbird and butterfly attracting plants for Lori, and finalizing next week’s delivery schedule of plants ordered through R&G’s online Neighborhood Garden Boutique. A big shout out of thanks and appreciation to all my wonderful clients! ❤🐞💐🌸🌹
How did your garden survive the cold snaps? Let’s not trim that dead, frost bitten stuff back yet for a few reasons: it protects the plant if we get more cold, and pruning causes plants to put out new growth, which is the last thing we want until we’re past our last frost date. Which, for Orlando, is February 15th, but we all know that’s not written in stone. Yeah, I know our gardens don’t look the best right now, but it is winter. I’m just happy our gardens aren’t buried in snow!
My young Sweet Almond Bush is still cranking out the blooms. Her leaves look a bit ragged, but that’s normal this time of year for her. What’s still blooming in your garden?
Hit me up if you have questions about the cold weather and your plants. I’ll be happy to help!
I love this meme for many reasons: Gertrude Jekyll’s quote, the plants, and the simple overall beauty of the pic. Ms Jekyll’s style of garden design has continued to inspire my own garden design work over the years.
I have some fun news: Today Roses and Gargoyles Gardenscapes got approval from my neighborhood association to sponsor a quarterly “Prettiest Garden” contest for the Colonialtown South neighborhood I live in! I had a ball doing the contest when I had the garden boutique in Lake Helen, so I’m very excited about getting the opportunity to start one here. People in downtown Orlando love to garden, so I was surprised to learn there wasn’t already a contest in place in CTS. Lots more info to come after I get all the details together. This is gonna be so fun!
Good morning and Happy New Year! Here’s a handy dandy chart showing which edibles to plant this month. Although I would wait till after this week’s cold snap moves away to plant. I have an awesome supplier who I get veggies and herbs from, so let me know what you’re looking for and I’ll deliver it to you!
Happy digging in the dirt …
