Wilty Plants

Can’t figure out why a plant is looking all wilty even though its soil is still wet from all that recent rain?  Well, there are a couple of reasons.

First is, it got use to that cloudy weather we had for about a week and now it’s getting tons of direct sunshine (if it’s in the sun, of course).  So it has to get acclimated to all that sunshine again.

Second is, if the soil is really wet from the rain, its roots may be too waterlogged to be able to absorb water.

So don’t automatically reach for the hose if you see wilty.  Check the soil first.  If it’s moist, leave it alone.  Give the soil a couple of days to dry out, them check it again. It the plant’s in the sun, just give it a couple of days of getting use to alot of sun again.

Happy digging in the dirt…
